Removing the pool, September 2008
While excavating the pool we found an old pillar that had been buried in the fill when Dad built the pool in c. 1958
We had seen the pillar in old resort photos, and after we saw what appeared to be a date "16" and some initials CWJ & VC we looked at some even older photos of the original lodge which was built in 1915, and sure enough, we saw the pillar in front of the old lodge. We knew we had to incorporate it into the new gardens.
